Fun Questions

  • What is your favorite animal and why?

I would say that my favorite animal is a cat. It seems to me that I understand them fully, their needs and problems. I would catvocate (advocate) for them, if they were self conscious. Additionally, cats are both cuddly and smart! I enjoy interacting with them.

  • Can you share a recent story about a memorable pet you've worked with?

Small recent story about pet I have treated:

I did not treat her actually but was holding her for cystocentesis. It was yesterday, black dog that was too excited about surroundings initially, but then went calm and relaxed when in the dorsal recumbency. I was holding her front legs, and she became tranquil during the procedure. I had an impression, that she was on SPA procedures, not in the darkened x-ray room and enjoyed herself during this event.

She melted my heart with her perfect behavior. After the procedure she went bananas again, was jumping on everyone, vocalizing, and having been with no manners. I was impressed, how she knows when to be cooperative, and when to play and be a ball of energy.

  • What is your best tip for caring for cats?

My good and trustworthy cat care tip is to be respectful when handling cats. No loud noises, laughs around the cat. Quiet, calm voice, gentle approach, no dogs around – this is what cats deserve and they will pay off with much more nice behavior during this and future visits.

Serious Questions

  • What inspires you in your work as a veterinary professional?

This is quite interesting question. I think that my inspiration comes from my desire to learn new, to be knowledgeable, to know what I’m dealing with, how to treat different diseases. If I know the answer, I could help the patient as soon as possible (or provide the owner with realistic outcome if it is untreatable), the owner will be happy, I will be pleased with results of my work – healthy patient + content, appreciative owner.

  • How do you handle difficult cases or diagnoses?

If I encounter difficult cases or diagnosis, I’m trying to get the answer from all the sources, that I could reach. I would ask my colleagues their opinions, read through different literature/articles where given disease is mentioned, then I would sort out the most relevant information and create the clear plan for ow of what to do and what we need. There is an option here in Canada to consult with internal medicine specialist, I would do it as well.
