From a young age, I have loved animals and grew up on a small farm surrounded by a variety of animals, mainly cattle—my favourite animal, next to dogs. My passion for animal care has been a constant throughout my life and continues to drive my career in veterinary medicine. I have worked in the veterinary field for five years, gaining experience in a variety of clinic roles and developing strong skills in patient care, client communication, and day-to-day clinic operations. I also have hands-on experience working with companion animals, large animals, and wildlife, which has helped me build a well-rounded understanding of animal health. I graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island and am actively working toward applying to veterinary school to further my career in veterinary medicine. Outside of work, I share my life with Roxy, a dog I adopted through the SPCA who is a big part of my life. I also enjoy travelling, golfing, and spending time at farmers markets.

What's your favorite animal and why?

Dogs and cows are tied for my favourite animals. Dogs because of their strong bond with people, loyalty, and unique personalities. They’re incredibly rewarding to work with both personally and professionally. Cows because of my background growing up on a small farm. I’ve always appreciated their intelligence, and they’ve played a big role in shaping my early experience with animal care.
What's the most unusual pet you've ever cared for?

A bearded dragon!
What's your favorite part about working with animals?

I enjoy being part of their care from start to finish and seeing improvement over time. Building trust with patients, especially the nervous or fearful ones, is also very rewarding.

What inspired you to work in this industry?

My interest in veterinary medicine started early and was strongly influenced by my father, who owns a small farm and has always had a deep respect and love for animals. Growing up, I was involved in animal care and developed a strong appreciation for animal health and welfare from a young age, which naturally led me toward a career in veterinary medicine.
What advancements in veterinary medicine are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about the continued improvements in diagnostic tools, which allow for faster and more accurate decision-making in clinic. Advances in preventative medicine and early disease detection are also especially important, as they help improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for our patients.
