Sarah
VETERINARY ASSISTANT/CSR
Originally our doggy daycare coordinator, Sarah has become a familiar face in many areas of the clinic and is certainly a jack-of-all-trades in the hospital. From managing inventory, to monitoring surgeries, to educating clients with her wealth of canine experience, this gal does it all and is always committed to going above and beyond.
She shares her home with her shepherd, Leonard (another familiar face around the clinic), as well as her two cats: Barracuda, who is as fluffy as she is evil, and Goose, who has three legs, no tail, and ALL the personality of the family! When she’s not on hiking adventures with Leonard, Sarah is an avid writer, and is extraordinarily passionate about expanding her behavioral knowledge – particularly with regards to our canine friends!
Having graduated from the Vet Assistant course in 2014, Sarah spent several years working in daycare/boarding kennels before coming to CBS Animal Hospital in 2018, and she hasn’t looked back since.
Fun Questions
-
What's the most unusual pet you've ever cared for?
While working in a boarding facility, we had a few potbelly pigs who stayed for extended vacations! One was named Princess Petunia, and she hated Crocs!
-
Share a pet care tip or trick that people might not know about.
Having trouble training your pup? Get excited! Get jazzed! Make training the funnest experience possible for your furry friend! Remember, you’ll get more flies with honey, and no dog wants to learn if it’s a boring experience! Sometimes the best reward you can give is FUN!
-
What's your pet's name and why did you choose it?
I have a cat named Barracuda, named because she was a very naughty kitten, so we always found ourselves saying “Ooooh you!” … which eventually turned into “Oooh Barracuda!” just like the popular song.
Serious Questions
-
What advice would you give to pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?
Before purchasing any pet, put in the research! Many dog breeds are extremely appealing from the outside (especially those big, beautiful working breeds), but may require a lifestyle or household that you’re not quite prepared for.
-
How do you collaborate with pet owners to provide the best care possible for their animals?
I love helping pet parents understand exactly what they’ve been told by the doctor, sometimes by finding a new way to explain the same ideas or suggestions! I believe every pet parent should leave the clinic feeling confident that they understood everything that was said.
