Tara
VETERINARY ASSISTANT
Tara has had a passion for all things animals since day one. Growing up on a small egg farm, the hens and the neighbor’s horse were her first best friends. She knew growing up a career working with animals was a must. Tara graduated from Academy Canada in 2008 and has been in the Veterinary industry ever since. Tara has been with CBS Animal Hospital since their grand opening in November of 2013. Tara loves all aspects of vet med but you will most likely see her in surgery. Tara lives in CBS with her husband, their son Noah and their mini zoo. Together they have adopted, 1 horse-Tanglefoot aka Tango Mango, 2 dogs-Nemo and Waldo, 3 cats-Calvin, Kinder and Kitten Little and 1 bunny-Dory. In Tara’s “free time” you will find her at the barn, going on family hikes with the dogs, going on the quads with her mud obsessed son and many other outdoor activities.
Fun Questions
-
If you could communicate with animals, what’s the first thing you'd ask them?
Tell me where it hurts.
-
What’s your favorite animal and why?
Horses. I believe most who love horses are just born with it. Once you love them you can’t quit them. The bond and relationship with a horse is like no other.
-
What's your pets name and why did you choose it?
Although I didn’t choose my horses name, he came with it when I adopted him, and I couldn’t change it as it suits him very well. His name is Tanglefoot. Mickey mouses racehorse was named Tanglefoot, and they are both very similar in characteristics.
Serious Questions
-
What advice would you give to pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?
I always recommend annual check ups with annual bloodwork. It’s so important because some animals are experts at hiding pain and illnesses. Also exercise! It’s so important for everyone’s well being. Motion is lotion!

What inspired you to work in this industry?
Loving animals before I could walk was certainly what pointed me into the direction of vetmed, but it was also the love of learning something new everyday and working with so many amazing people who share the same passions as I do that made me know this was the place for me.
