Vanessa

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

When we need things to stay on schedule here at CBS Animal Hospital, Vanessa is the one we turn to! The ultimate jack-of-all-trades, this beagle-loving lady is one of our stellar technicians and is never afraid to dive into a challenging situation. From wrangling wild Danes, to soothing the smallest kittens, to managing all our IT troubles, Vanessa does it all and so much more! She’s been at CBS Animal Hospital since 2015, and she went on to become a registered veterinary technician in 2017! Vanessa is our treatment lead and oversees patient care for all our patients! When she’s not busy keeping all her coworkers on track, Vanessa can be found spending quality time with her husband and son as well as their amazing (and slightly anxious) beagle, Charco. She’s a lover of the outdoors, especially escaping into the woods on an ATV whenever she has a day off! If you see her around the clinic, be sure to ask her about her dream of owning a “teacup” Persian kitten.

Fun Questions

What's your favorite animal and why?

My favorite animal would have to be a turtle. I spent years studying their biology and creating lessons to teach the younger generation how to protect them from polluted waters. To me they symbolize patience and adaptability.
What's your favorite part about working with animals?

My favourite part aside from snuggling the beagle puppies (I’m biased, they are the cutest) is being able to provide a positive outcome for our sick patients. Knowing I was apart of the solution to making them healthy again is truly rewarding.
What's the most rewarding aspect of your job?

When I have the ability to support and care for our clients during some of their worst moments. Giving their pets the medical attention they require and being able to make a positive difference in our clients life.

What inspired you to work in this industry?

Growing up I loved animal care, from marine life to wildlife I found myself at CBS animal hospital. Although my dream job changed being a Veterinary Technician is the job I never knew I needed growing up. Although the job comes with heartache it’s also full of love, laughter and rewarding experiences with clients and patients.
How do you collaborate with pet owners to provide the best care possible for their animals?

An owner is the final decision maker for their animals. My job is to listen to my owners and explain all treatment options and the stages of care we are hoping to provide. If I can effectively communicate the patients needs to the owners, they will have the tools to make the best decision for their family.
